Let’s talk Candles!
These are some things I've discovered and learned myself getting into making them. When you are burning a candle have you ever had Migraines? Eyes start feeling irritated? Skin Reactions? Trouble Breathing?
Looking back I know I have!
Lets talk about PARAFFIN WAX (by-product of Petroleum) Did you know that most stores that sell candles and wax melts use Paraffin Wax (Cheap Candles or Expensive)
Paraffin Wax is usually bleached by adding Dioxin, Texturized with Acrolyn (CARCINOGEN) then mixed with an animal based Stearic Acid to harden it so it can be used to make candles. When you burn a Paraffin Wax Candle you are releasing harmful and dangerous chemicals into the air.
When they burn they emit black soot and toxic fumes (Similar chemistry to diesel exhaust) Containing poisonous chemicals such as benzene, toluene, naphthalene, tri-decane, tetra-decane, pentra-decane, and Hexadecane. (look these up it will blow your mind!)
Those chemicals are associated with Asthma and other Respiratory Conditions and Allergy like reactions. Just some insight to how it can effect and damage your lungs. Now those toxic fumes can even effect your eyes and skin causing irritation and making dermatological conditions worse.
You can find an alternative source for candles!
I use only 100% Organic Soy Wax in all of my Wax Melts and Candles.
When you are checking for ingredients on your candles or shopping for candles, even if it says " Soy Wax Blend" this is not good, Because they can still be using 90% paraffin wax and 10% soy wax. (example of ratio)
Wicks are also something important to check, wood wicks are always a great natural option, or 100% cotton wicks.
Stay away from wicks made with metal in them!
Soy Wax is biodegradable and cleans up easy with plain soap and water, also soy candles burn slower and longer, as opposed to a blended paraffin wax candle that burns hotter and faster.
Soy Wax is also 100% SOOT FREE!
